This house has had windows boarded up for over 1 year. What happened to the rule that they can only be boarded for 6 months?
Perry and Leslie Tate provide unsafe housing to Bradley University students. Our house was infested with mold which made us very sick almost immediately. One of our roommates had to get their gallbladder removed because it had sludge in it which can be directly caused by dangerous molds. We also had to drain her wall multiple times because water collected behind the paint. Clothes had to be thrown away because they grew mold. Our basement flooded and they came over a day later to tighten the pipes, but never cleaned up the water. The basement pipes now shake the walls after the toilet flushes. Water damage can be seen throughout the house, especially in wood. The pilot light for the upstairs furnace regularly went out in the winter. When we told Leslie Tate about it, she would often ignore our emails or say that we were lying. This left one of our roommates with a chronic, terminal illness without heat for several days throughout the winter, until Leslie got tired of our emails and sent out the maintenance man. It would get down to around 50 and sometimes lower at night. A very steep staircase leading to the basement does not have a railing. I personally asked Leslie to put in a railing because I thought it was dangerous without one. They never put in a railing and me and another roommate both fell down it and hurt our backs. The ceiling in the living room fell on my roommate one day and left a massive hole in the ceiling that we asked them to fix when it first fell. One of the maintenance men, Keith, told me that they couldn't do anything about it. I said that more would fall and he told me to keep an eye on it and it would probably fall. It was left for a year and a half, gradually growing, with Leslie showing the house to students. Finally, Perry came over one day after we complained about the mold yet again, and yelled at us for never telling them about the hole in the ceiling and how it would have been so easy for them to fix. Keith had to tell Perry that we did report it to them and he had pictures to prove it. Our CO2 detector went off one night and they told us to wait until the next day for them to come over to check it and to not call the fire department. They then yelled at us for calling the fire department anyway, who told us that many of the fire and CO2 detectors broke fire code. Perry insisted that all the windows are sealed and also told us that it was impossible to reseal them which I think he thinks I'm stupid enough to believe. This was after we continued to beg them to spray the wasps that kept entering into multiple windows even though Perry told us it would be impossible for them to enter through the window. The porch light does not work and they never properly fixed it, even though it is in our lease to have a properly working porch light. We had to buy our own porch lighting. Many of the windows don't actually open and are painted shut. Some rooms did not have windows that could be opened.
House has been abandoned. All the doors are wide open. People are staying in house after dark. Only a matter of time before someone starts the house on fire. The cellar doors have been torn from the hinges and someone is going to fall in the basement. Several outdoors sheds are falling in also.
We have been complaining about this house for over a year. There's probably 100 code violations on it. Nobody is fixing it at all. Zero progress. Every time someone asks an inspector about it the inspectors say there's a guy that's supposed to be fixing it. Yeah ok we have been told that for a year now. The guy that claims he is going to fix it is a meth head that frequented the meth house across the street until it was shut down. This guy is a meth head. He's flat broke and he has no idea how to fix a house anyway. He claims he's just going to rent it out without utilities hooked up at all for $100 a month each apt. He said homeless people need a place too. This guy has no plans to EVER fix this house!!!! The last inspector said he had until May 1st to fix all of the violations or face a fine. Still nothing fixed. No fines issued. Apparently there's a new inspector now. Knock this piece of crap house down!!! It needs 80,000 - 100,000 dollars worth of work and isn't worth anywhere near that. If someone leans against the porch columns the roof is going to collapse on them. Unsafe, crumbling, uncared for, broken windows, peeling sophit, gutters falling off, siding melted off, retaining wall falling on sidewalk, gas lines cut, gas meter removed, electric lines cut, electric meter removed, no breakers, leaking rookie, shingles peeling off, water damage inside, no furnace, no floors, no sinks, no countertops, full of debris, raccoons live in it, steps are crumbling, back retaining wall is falling down, foundation is crumbling, grass is 2 feet long, etc. Etc.
