I went grocery shopping at Hyvee at Grand Prairie and as I was putting my groceries in the trunk of my car a young woman came up to me and said she needed a ride for she was stranded there. I asked where she was going and she said Broadway. I told her I did not know where Broadway was and she said she would show me. Bells went off in my gut so I told her I was sorry I could not. I finished putting groceries in my trunk and turned around and she disappeared totally. I went to Walmart on Allen road and a young black male came up to my car when I was putting groceries in my trunk asking for money. He totally disappeared to after I said I am sorry but no. I went to Kroger on Lynburg and as I was putting groceries in the trunk of my car a young black male asked for money for a bus ticket home. I also said I am sorry but no. He also totally disappeared. I think these people are sitting in vehicles waiting for an easy mark. I am an 81 year old white headed female and look a lot more vulnerable than I really am for my brain is still in good shape. I was back at Hyvee and saw a young black man standing with a card board sign of being homeless and asking for money on the devision of the street by Steak and Shake and Star Bucks. This has all happened in the last 3-4 months. I question should visitors come to Peoria this sure is not a good light for them to see. Maybe patrol cars could take a swing thru some of these store parking lights periodically just to make their presence known for these people are sitting in cars waiting for an easy mark.
